AKBARS RESTAURNAT - MANCHESTER

DESIGN, PLANNING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT OF RESTAURANT FIT OUT IN MANCHESTER

Akbars Restaurant - Liverpool Road, Manchester

A relocation to the Castlefield area and the growth of a younger, more style conscious customer base inspired a move away from the traditional Indian restaurant interior for this established business. The result is an intriguing sculptural form, with services grouped around the centre of the space, providing two distinct, animated facades for diners and drinkers.

A transitional walkway ramp cuts through the services, leading from the bar to a raised level dining area.

Providing 240 non-smoking covers in the restaurant and a 120 capacity bar, Akbars is open 7 days a week.   The bar is situated on the busy street elevation, angled in towards the ramp indicating a second layer deeper within the building.   An overhanging bulkhead provides a hub of lighting and built-in signage and creates an intimate space within the bar itself.

Structural columns within the restaurant provide a framework for a hybrid area of restaurant and conference facilities.   Built around the columns, a network of fixed seating, transparent schemes and sliding doors creates a flexible, moveable space.
